Traza: a tattoo artist app on both stores, live in early 2026

Book a discovery call

Description

Traza is a marketplace for tattoo artists in Australia. When the company came to us, artists were already taking real bookings on the Traza website.

The in-house team had a CTO, backend and web developers, a sales team, a documented API and finished Figma designs. What it didn't have was mobile developers, and it didn't plan to hire any for at least six months. So Traza sent out a request for one thing: an app that lets artists run their bookings from their phone.

The challenge

Everything an artist did on Traza happened in a browser. That works at a desk. But tattoo artists spend the day on their feet, between clients, and they need to answer requests, plan sessions, take deposits and reply to messages from their phone.

Three limits shaped the work: a budget under $20k, a launch date that the client had already promised, and a rule to build on their live API and their Figma designs, not redo them.

Project management

We worked as a dedicated team sized to the budget, in weekly cycles on the client's Jira, with regular demos. The client could change priorities every week. When the custom calendar grew bigger than planned, we cut it down to a first version and moved push notifications and booking creation forward, because artists needed those more.

To protect the launch date, we added a second developer early in the project. When one developer dropped out mid-project, we covered the cost and gave the work to the other developer, so the client's budget and timeline stayed the same.

The Rocketech team:

  • Senior React Native Developer
  • React Native Developer
  • Delivery Manager
  • QA Engineer

Built on what Traza already had

The client already had finished Figma designs, so there was no design phase to run. We treated Figma as the single source of truth and settled questions about a screen quickly instead of reopening design debates. When the client's director reworked a screen, that version became the new reference.
The app talks to Traza's live REST API and uses its Firebase project for messages and push notifications. Traza's team owned the backend, and ours owned the mobile app.

Functionality

The app covers the artist side of the marketplace, from the first login to a finished session.

Bookings

  • Every stage: requests, scheduled, on hold, completed and cancelled, with filters.
  • Actions by status: each booking shows only the actions that fit its stage.
  • Sessions: create and edit sessions, take deposits, mark complete, no-show or cancelled.

Clients and messages

  • Messages: a chat between artist and client inside each booking.
  • Client notes: details and notes on each client, so repeat clients feel remembered.
  • Push notifications: new requests, messages and session changes reach the artist right away.

Account and profile

  • Login: with Instagram or email. Instagram is where artists already show their work.
  • Profile preview: bio, gallery, designs, FAQ and locations, with links to the web for bigger edits.

Pitfalls

Building on a live API is fast, but the app can only move as fast as that API. At kickoff, a login error on the client's dev API stopped our screen work until their team fixed it. After that, the two teams worked as one.

App Store review can take one to two weeks, which is risky with a fixed launch date. So we sent the app to review early instead of polishing it until the last day. It was approved on both stores.

Numbers

2
app stores approved the app: the App Store and Google Play
9
epics and about 22 user stories for the artist side
2
mobile developers added to the client's in-house team

Results

The artist app was approved on the App Store and Google Play and went live in early 2026.
Traza got a mobile app without hiring mobile developers, built on its own API and designs.
Mid-project the client added 2 more epics, and they fit inside the agreed budget.
A second phase for the client side (sign-up, login, messages, bookings and settings) was scoped and started, reusing the artist-side logic.
At handover, the client's director thanked the team for keeping a tight project on track.

EasySpk

AI / Productivity · mobile app

EasySpk is an iPhone keyboard that turns speech into clean, ready-to-send text in any app. We came up with the name, designed the brand, the app and the landing page, built the AI part and shipped the first release in 2 weeks. It got 1,000+ downloads in its first days.

GhostMinutes

AI / Productivity · web and mobile app

GhostMinutes turns meetings and calls into text and AI summaries. We built it from scratch for a serial founder: the name, the brand, an iOS app in 2 weeks, a web app 1 week later and the speech AI behind both. The product reached $1,500 MRR.

IPOPBOOKS

FinTech / AI · web app

IPOPBOOKS does the books for small US businesses: AI sorts every bank transaction and a bookkeeper checks it. We built the client portal, the bookkeeper workspace, the admin panel and the website, and launched in 10 weeks, ready to take payments.

HealthyNikah

Social / Lifestyle · mobile app

HealthyNikah helps Muslims in the UK find a husband or wife, with family involved and photos kept private. We rewrote the old app in Flutter, rebuilt billing, moved 3,200+ members over and took the app through Apple review to a relaunch on iOS and Android.

Koncierge

FinTech · web app

Koncierge connects a payment provider, FX brokers and licensed local agents in Japan through one API, a portal for each role and an embeddable checkout widget. We modeled the data, built the payment matching engine and the portals, and took it live.

Volumetryx

HealthTech · web app

Volumetryx links drug companies, hospitals and scan readers in cancer trials. We built a clickable demo of its platform: trial setup, uploads of large scan files, a browser scan viewer and progress dashboards. The two hardest technical questions were answered before the main build.

Subflare

AI / MarTech · web app

Subflare shows B2B teams what a visitor did on their website before filling in a form, and how ready they are to buy. We tested the risky AI part in 2 weeks, then built the tracking script, AI scoring, dashboards and admin panel.

Daisy's Guide

Lifestyle · web app

Daisy's Guide helps couples settle the big questions before their first child arrives. The founders had a printed guide that sold well. We turned it into a web app for couples, with partner accounts, a one-time purchase, all 41 prompts and shared notes.
