An offshore developer on a dedicated team costs $6,000 to $9,000 a month with us, and a team can start in 2 to 4 weeks. Our hourly rate is $39 to $55. That’s the rate. The full cost also includes your own time, the roles around the developers and the price of unclear requirements. Published agency prices show how much the region matters. A week of MVP work costs a median $7,084 at agencies headquartered in the US, Canada, the UK, Western Europe or Australia, $4,167 at agencies in Eastern Europe, and $2,273 in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
Offshore rates by region: what agencies publish
The regional numbers come from our MVP Price Index, where we collected the prices 95 agencies publish on their own sites. We grouped the agencies by where their head office is.
| Region | Agencies that state their own price | Median starting price of an MVP | Median price per week of MVP work |
|---|---|---|---|
| US, Canada, UK, Western Europe, Australia | 15 | $19,851 | $7,084 |
| Eastern Europe | 11 | $30,000 | $4,167 |
| Asia, Latin America, Middle East, Africa | 10 | $7,250 | $2,273 |
The weekly price is each agency’s own price divided by its own timeline, using the middle of each range. It rests on 22 agencies, so treat it as a guide rather than a market rate.
Eastern European agencies don’t undercut Western ones on starting price: their median start is higher, at $30,000 against $19,851. The gap only shows up per week of work, where Eastern Europe comes in at $4,167 against $7,084. And the cheapest region is also the least open about price. Only 10 of the 28 agencies in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa state their own price, or 36%, against 44% in the West and 46% in Eastern Europe.
What an offshore developer costs with Rocketech
We’re an offshore team based in Kyiv, with headquarters in Singapore. Our dedicated teams cost $6,000 to $9,000 per developer a month, and the people on them are middle and senior engineers. We hire, onboard and train the team, and it can start in 2 to 4 weeks.
Most products need a team for months, so it helps to see the totals.
| Team | Per month | For 6 months |
|---|---|---|
| 1 developer | $6,000-9,000 | $36,000-54,000 |
| 3 developers | $18,000-27,000 | $108,000-162,000 |
| 5 developers | $30,000-45,000 | $180,000-270,000 |
Designers, QA engineers and project managers are priced on top when you need them. For our full price list, the engagement options and published market rates, see dedicated development team cost.
The costs that don’t show up in the rate
A low hourly rate can still produce an expensive project. These are the costs to plan for with any offshore team, ours included.
Your product owner’s time
Someone on your side has to set priorities and accept the work. In our dedicated teams, your product owner does both, and each sprint of up to four weeks ends with a review. If nobody on your side has that time, the team waits or guesses, and you pay for both.
The roles around the developers
A group of developers alone rarely ships a product. The 11 people we placed in Everytale’s team included a designer, a DevOps engineer and a business analyst next to eight developers. When you compare quotes, price the whole team, these roles included.
Getting started
New people need access to code, accounts and documents, plus time to learn the product. Ask every vendor what the first two weeks look like and what you’ll have at the end of them.
Working hours
If your team and the offshore team share no working hours, every question waits a day. Ask how many hours overlap with yours, and who is on call when something breaks.
Unclear requirements
Vague scope gets more expensive when questions take a day to answer. Write down what the first release must do and what can wait, before the team starts.
Replacing people
Ask what happens when a developer leaves: who finds the replacement, how fast, and who pays for the handover. In our teams, we handle hiring and onboarding.
Dedicated team, staff augmentation or fixed price
The engagement model changes what you pay, too. We work in all four of these ways.
| Model | How it works | Price | Fits when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated team | A team works only on your product, month after month | $6,000-9,000 per developer a month | You have a product and a backlog that keeps changing |
| Staff augmentation | Our people join your team and work in your process | $39-55 an hour | Your team needs more hands or a missing skill |
| Fixed price | One price for an agreed scope | From $5,000; an MVP costs $5,000-15,000 | The scope is clear and small, like a first MVP |
| Time and materials | You pay for the hours worked | $39-55 an hour | You want to start now and shape the scope as you go |
You can switch as the product grows. Hays started with us on a fixed price for its CV tool and moved to a dedicated team as the tool grew into a mini-ERP.
Everytale: 11 offshore specialists inside a client’s team
Everytale is a platform for creating, selling and streaming online events. Its own core team had 25 people and needed more hands to release faster. This was our third product with the same founders.
Eleven of our specialists joined that team: six frontend developers, a React Native developer, an Android developer, a designer, a DevOps engineer and a business analyst. The platform handles 100,000+ users at once, and one Amazon event on it reached over 500,000 viewers.
When the founders later wanted a spin-off for virtual career fairs, called Everytalent, 7 of our specialists released its MVP in the agreed two months. Read the Everytale case study for the team setup and features.
How to compare offshore quotes
Put every quote into the same shape before you compare them. Ask each vendor for:
- the monthly price per person, and the level of each person
- which roles are included: project manager, QA, designer, DevOps
- how soon the team can start, and how long a replacement takes
- sprint length, demos, and who accepts the work
- the working hours that overlap with yours
- who owns the code, the repositories and the accounts, written into the contract
- how the price changes when you add or remove people
Then compare what each team costs for six months, not what each hour costs. A team that needs fewer people, less of your time and fewer rewrites can win even with a higher rate.

What hidden costs come with an offshore team?
Your product owner’s time, roles beyond developers (design, QA, DevOps, project management), onboarding, limited overlap in working hours, unclear requirements and replacing people who leave. Ask every vendor how each one is handled and priced.
How fast can an offshore development team start?
Our dedicated teams start in 2 to 4 weeks. We handle hiring, onboarding and training.
Is a dedicated team cheaper than a fixed-price project?
It depends on the scope. A fixed price fits a small, clear scope, like an MVP at $5,000 to $15,000. A dedicated team at $6,000 to $9,000 per developer a month fits a product whose backlog keeps changing. You can start fixed and switch later, as Hays did.
