One Account, Every Payment Method: A Seamless Fintech Solution for a Local Market

AggloPay is a modern payment platform designed around the way merchants in Cameroon operate. It brings together mobile money, bank cards, and USSD into one system — no extra accounts, no manual workarounds. We took the project from first sketches to a working product in two months, covering design, development, and integrations with local payment services.

The challenge

The client didn't have a development team or technical vendor in place. They needed a reliable partner to take ownership and bring the idea to life from scratch. That included product design, architecture, integrations, and, of course, the actual development.

Cameroon also has a few unique constraints:

Apple Pay and Google Pay aren't available.
Mobile networks have their own rules and quirks.
Security checks with the payment provider Flutterwave were extremely strict.

Project management

We kicked things off with a pre-development phase and focused on research, interface design, and testing early payment system integrations.

The main development phase took us two months. We followed Scrum with 2-week sprints and bi-weekly demos to give the client full visibility and control throughout the project.

Functionality

AggloPay makes it easy for any merchant in Cameroon, whether a solo entrepreneur or part of a marketplace, to accept a wide range of payments. They only need one account while the system takes care of the rest. It also supports multicurrency operations — merchants can receive payments in different currencies without extra setup. The solution works in English and French to cover the region's primary languages.

Key features

AggloPay includes two sets of tools — one for merchants and one for admins. Merchants get a clean dashboard, full payment history, and everything they need to manage payments, from generating QR codes to scheduling payouts. Admins can approve merchants, set up pricing plans, and keep track of all activity across the system.

Design

As part of full-cycle development, we created the app's UI/UX design from the ground up. The goal was clarity and ease — no clutter, no learning curve. We focused on clean visual hierarchy, readable typography, and simple, intuitive navigation.

Because we handled both design and development, we could test ideas quickly and tweak details mid-sprint. That tight loop helped us build a design that feels seamless in use, not only good-looking but also made to work in real life.

Integration and pitfalls

We integrated with Flutterwave, a powerful and secure African payment platform. But it wasn't plug-and-play. Flutterwave's strict security measures required significant fine-tuning and troubleshooting. We also had to work around the absence of Apple/Google Pay in the region.

The solution was adapted to fit the market's actual usage patterns. We focused on what users in the region rely on most — local cards, mobile payments, and USSD — and built the experience around those tools.
